Here are some of the horses and ponies at Chigwell Riding Trust. All are very
special. They have to be of a certain temperament and capable of doing the
very specialised work asked of them. For the Trust to be the centre of excellence
that it is the well being of the horses and ponies has to come first. Many
hours of schooling is given by both staff and volunteers and the results
can be seen every day in the riding lessons.

Woody is a 15.1 dun gelding. He came to us in November 2005 and was kindly donated by the Friends of Disabled Riders. He is only 9 years old so hopefully he will be here for a long time. He used to show at county level and is now one of our dressage horses.
Jake is a 15.1 piebald gelding and is 16 years old. He was kindly donated by South Essex Caravan Club and Jenny Woodcock in 1996. He has the most wonderful temperament, has taught so many riders and is one of the favourites on the yard.
William is a 15.3 12 year old piebald gelding. He came to us in February 2004 and used to drive. He is a very kind and sensitive horse. At times he does compete in dressage.
Dylan is a light bay gelding, 15.1 hands high and 11 years old. He was kindly donated by Lucy Winberg. He is a very calm horse and has a lovely temperament. He is very good with our more active riders.
Troy is a 14.1 Welsh section D chestnut gelding and is 19 years old. He came here in November 2004 and is kindly on loan from Michelle Loy. He is a very versatile pony and suites a variety of riders. He is also a wonderful driving pony.
Smartie is a 14 hand piebald gelding and is 11 years old. He was bought from a dealer in Sussex in 2004. Due to much schooling Smartie has become a lovely dressage pony competing at Novice level but working at Elementary. He has a wonderful temperament both in and out of the stable and is teaching many of our riders their first canter.
Megan is a 14.2 light bay mare and is 13 years old. She is a wonderful pony who gives so much to so many riders. She is a real confidence giver. Megan was kindly donated by Amy Deurden in March 2003.
Roger is a 14 hands skewbald gelding and is 17 years old. He is kindly on permanent loan from our vets, House and Jackson. He came here in1999. As a yearling he was savaged by a stallion and suffered significant injuries but this has not deterred him. He is brilliant while being ridden by the children.
Archer is a 6 years old Irish x Belgian. He is our largest horse standing at 16.2hh. He is a long term project that will be for our top dressage riders in time to come. He came here in July 2006 and is making very good progress.
Pinza is a 12.2 dun gelding and is 17 years old. He is kindly on permanent loan from Mrs. Barbara Taylor. He is the most wonderful schoolmaster. Not only does he give numerous rides, he drives as well. Pinza goes back to his owner for the summer holidays and has a lot of fun with the Pony Club and other competitions.
Poppet is a 11.2hh grey mare. She is 21 years old and really lives up to her name. She was very kindly donated to Chigwell riding Trust by Mrs. Sue Bose in 1998. Every Christmas Poppet stands outside local supermarkets with carol singers helping to raise much needed funds. This is a really wonderful pony who still has so much to offer.
Badger is a 14.3hh black gelding and is 11 years old. He came to us in November 2006 and was kindly donated by Debbie Pasquale. He has settled in well and has a lovely temperament.
James is a 15.1hh piebald gelding and is 9 years old. His real name is Huxham 007 and his previous home was in Somerset. He has a fabulous temperament and can work at Elementary level in dressage.
